Staff Hunters is recruiting for an R&D Engineer/QC Engineer/Manager with tech support functions for a small Seacoast area company that specializes in eco-friendly products.

Looking for a self-motivated, creative problem solver who can multi-task and work independently. Someone comfortable with both being a manager and rolling up their sleeves to do what it takes to get things done.

Responsibilities for the R&D Engineer /QC Manager:

  • Research and Develop new product applications and business opportunities
  • Develop improvements and new products in upholstery fabrics & wall covering
  • Develop new products for building interiors
  • Research new coating formulations and additives
  • Experiment with printing and coating process innovations
  • Develop innovative hospital, surgery center, and tissue bank products
  • Create innovative textile products
  • Work with suppliers to conduct experiments and run trials to develop new products
  • Production troubleshooting and process control
  • Customer interface for quality, warranty issues, and technical support
  • Investigating the root cause of QC issues and implementing corrective actions
  • Benchmark testing of competitive products
  • QC testing and developing test methods to duplicate field performance issues
  • Find and develop new suppliers
  • Work with suppliers to improve their quality and solve problems

Desired skills/experience for the R&D Engineer /QC Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Plastics, Textiles or Chemical Engineering
  • 3-5 years working with plastics, coatings, or textiles
  • Experience with R&D and can demonstrate past creative successes
  • Skill in negotiating with suppliers and customers, coatings background is a plus
  • Willing to conduct hands-on testing, experiments, and production trials
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Good writing skills.
  • Independent worker with initiative and strong work ethic
  • Willing to work safely with chemicals in an industrial setting
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to adapt to multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Good people skills
  • Willing to occasionally travel to China, Canada and throughout the US

Kendra Palmer

Kendra originally joined Staff Hunters in 2011 as an Engineering Recruiter, and is currently a Senior Engineering Recruiter Manager. In her position, Kendra recruits engineers, technicians, and designers at all levels. She enjoys helping both candidates and companies make the right match, and continuously strives to stay current on the latest recruiting strategies. Prior to joining Staff Hunters, Kendra spent eight years recruiting IT, science, finance, and engineering staff for the Maine division of a large national recruiting firm. In 2010, she was formally recognized for her enthusiasm and interest in recruiting. Born in Maine, Kendra spent much of her youth between the Maine lakes and coast. She graduated with a BS from the University of Maine and an MBA from University of Southern Maine. Outside of work, Kendra is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys kayaking and exploring the outdoors with her family, friends, and her amazing dog. She can often be found kayaking the lakes and seacoast of New England, and aspires to kayak internationally someday in Baja Mexico or the Caribbean.
